Geely Preface Review — The Golden Era Of Sedan Lives On!

Geely recently launched the Preface mid-size sedan in the UAE. Right after the launch event, we were handed over the keys to experience the sedan’s features, performance and driveability. Here is our first-drive review of the Geely Preface.

The 2024 Geely Preface cuts a striking figure, balancing sophistication with sporty flair.  Its signature vertical grille dominates the front, flanked by sleek LED headlights that stretch towards the fenders for a sharp, modern look.

A fastback silhouette merges a flowing roofline with a tapered rear, enhancing aerodynamics and adding a touch of sportiness. Sculpted body panels with sharp lines and creases hint at the Preface’s power, while distinctive wraparound LED taillights create a unique visual identity.

The Preface interior merges comfort with a premium feel. Soft-touch plastics and leather accents create a sophisticated ambience. Supportive seats offer ample space for passengers to relax on long journeys.

A driver-centric layout keeps essential controls within easy reach. While specific tech features may vary by trim level, the overall design prioritises a clean and user-friendly experience.

The 2.0L turbocharged engine in the 2024 Geely Preface lives up to its billing. With 215hp on tap, acceleration is brisk, taking the car from 0-100 km/h in a zippy 6.9 seconds. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts smoothly and efficiently, keeping the engine in its powerband for optimal performance.

Despite its sporty intentions, the Preface maintains a comfortable composure. The suspension effectively absorbs bumps and road imperfections, isolating occupants from harshness. 

This doesn’t come at the expense of handling, though. Precise steering allows for confident maneuvering on twisty roads, while the car stays planted and predictable during spirited driving.

The 2024 Geely Preface has a Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). These features work together to provide an extra layer of security on the road. We put this tech to the test and it was extremely responsive.

The 2024 Geely Preface 2.0L emerges as a strong contender in the competitive mid-size sedan segment. It offers a compelling package for sedan buyers seeking a balance of performance, comfort, technology, and value.

The Geely Preface is offered in two variants and four colour options to choose from. Prices start at AED 87,400, rivalling the recently launched MG 7 in the UAE. The Preface also locks horns with several other mid-size sedans including the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord, punching above its weight.
