Kia Sportage vs Hyundai Tucson: A Strange Battle
In this week’s edition of DubiCompare, we compare Kia Sportage vs Hyundai Tucson and see how these compact SUVs stack up against each other.

This week’s edition of DubiCompare will be strange and interesting. Hyundai and Kia are two brands that are closely associated with each other. This relation is also reflected in the car both brands offer. In our comparison of Kia Sportage vs Hyundai Tucson, we find out just how closely matched are these two SUVs.

Both Sportage and the Tucson are available in long and short-wheelbase versions depending on the market. In the UAE, both models are sold in their LWB guises. Other aspects such as features and powertrain are also similar. Let’s see how these two South Korean SUVs stack up against each other.

As you can notice from the dimensions above, both SUVs have nearly identical proportions. The boot space is large and exceptional for the size of these SUVs. Also, this provides a roomier cabin on the inside to comfortably seat 5 passengers including the driver.

Again most noticeable exterior features are identical in the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. However, in terms of design, much to everyone’s surprise, it is the Tucson, which features striking looks as compared to the Sportage. That being said, the Sportage is not too far behind.

The only change between the two on the inside is larger screens on the Sportage for both instrument cluster and infotainment. The rest of the features, design, and upholstery; among others remain very similar.

The Kia Sportage and the Hyundai Tucson use the same engine and transmission. However, since most of these SUVs are exported, the available powertrain options can vary. These are some of the popular engine options available in the UAE for both SUVs:

Most of the petrol and diesel engines are also available with an optional AWD. Since both are the same engine, we are listing out the specs for the same

The safety net on both these compact SUVs is excellent. The Level 2 ADAS and other active safety features prevent crashes and provide peace of mind. Additionally, there are a plethora of passive safety features too.
