Dubai is moving towards a more seamless parking experience by launching a barrier-free system at major malls. City Centre Deira will be the first to implement this system, with the Mall of the Emirates following in February. This initiative aims to improve traffic flow and enhance shoppers’ convenience while ensuring compliance with barrier-free mall parking fines in Dubai.
Instead of traditional barriers, advanced cameras capture vehicle licence plates when drivers enter the parking area. This allows drivers to enter without stopping. When they exit, the system automatically calculates the parking fee based on the recorded entry and exit times.
Motorists receive an SMS notification containing a payment link. Payments can be completed through the Parkin mobile app (Android or iOS), website, or kiosks within the malls. This integration aligns with Dubai’s smart city initiatives, ensuring a frictionless experience.

The implementation of this advanced parking solution aims to reduce congestion at mall entrances and exits. By eliminating traditional ticket barriers, the system speeds up the entry and exit process, particularly during peak shopping hours. Security is also enhanced, as all vehicle movements are digitally recorded, minimizing unauthorized access and fraudulent activities.
To support motorists in adapting to the new system, dedicated customer service desks and kiosks have been set up within the malls. Staff are available to assist with payments and answer queries. Future enhancements include prepaid parking accounts and auto-deduction payment features to improve convenience further.
In October last year, Majid Al Futtaim announced plans to introduce this system at its three most popular malls—Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif—in collaboration with Dubai’s Parkin operator. With an estimated 20 million vehicles using these parking spaces annually, the new system promises to significantly ease traffic congestion.
Further expansions are planned for high-traffic areas, including business hubs and residential communities. While there is no official confirmation for Palm Jumeirah, discussions are underway to introduce similar technology across Dubai.
This initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to technological innovation, offering a smoother and more efficient parking experience for both residents and visitors.

Motorists must pay within three days. If unpaid after two days, an SMS reminder is sent. On the third day, a follow-up call is made before an AED 150 fine is applied.
No, parking fees remain unchanged. The system is designed to enhance efficiency rather than increase costs.
Parking in an unauthorised space or without a permit incurs an AED 1,000 fine. Overnight parking from 6 AM to 6 AM is also prohibited, with an AED 200 fine.
Spending AED 150 at the mall qualifies for free extended parking. Purchasing tickets at Vox Cinemas or Ski Dubai grants two extra free hours.
