Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav took a veiled dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the poll bound state, sarcastically making a reference to weather forecast, saying there was a “heavy rain of lies” and a “hail of false promises” in the state today.
“Weather warning in the interest of Bihar- Today there is heavy rain of lies, false promises and illusions in Bihar, hailstones of false and tempting promises are also falling along with thunder, be careful,” he said in a post on X.
#Bihar #TejashwiYadav #RJD pic.twitter.com/VrGTcjRN98— Lalu Prasad Yadav (@laluprasadrjd) June 20, 2025
The RJD patron also shared an AI-generated video highlighting the situation faced by the people after promises made by NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The video showed an elderly man sitting in a rural area under an umbrella, conveying a message of the person seeking shelter from a ‘flood of promises’. The clip further showed a man holding an umbrella amid thunderstorms, signifying the vulnerability of people from a ‘hail of false promises’.
The video further showed Nitish Kumar and PM Modi dancing under a damaged bridge, signifying infrastructural breakdown and corruption under the NDA regime.
The RJD patriarch’s response came after PM Modi, while addressing a high-stakes rally in poll-bound Bihar on Friday, launched a scathing attack on RJD and Congress, and accused them of allegedly insulting Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar and betraying the aspirations of Dalits and backward classes.
His remarks come amid a growing controversy over a viral video that purportedly shows RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav placing an image of Ambedkar near a chair, before resting his leg on it.
Without naming Lalu directly, Modi invoked the incident to question the Opposition’s commitment to social justice. “Leaders of RJD and Congress keep photographs of the architect of the Country’s Constitution near their feet. I keep his photograph close to my heart,” he said. He added, “RJD will never apologise for what happened as they have no respect for Dalits and backwards.”
