On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Patricia “Pat” Irene (Lindsay) Piercy was greeted at heaven’s gate by her beloved husband, Charles “Charlie” S. Piercy Jr, her youngest son, Gary W. Piercy, and her daughter-in-law, Cathy M. Piercy.
Patricia was born on April 17, 1941. She was the youngest, and last surviving, of the nine children of John and Icia Lindsay of Valley Bend, WV. She was always teased by her older sisters as being the “baby of the family and always getting whatever she wants.”
She attended and graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1959. She was a cheerleader and member of the band. She also owned one of the first typewriters in Valley Bend, bought by her father for her birthday after she fell in love with typing.
Pat met, fell in love with, and was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charlie, on January 22, 1960.
She worked as a seamstress at Hartley’s in downtown Fairmont but made a career with the US Postal Service as the Postmaster for the Kingmont Post Office until her retirement.
She and Charlie spent months traveling across the US after retirement, but Pat was always happiest when returning home to her family and dear friends.
She had a love for her community, belonging to the Kingmont Ladies Auxiliary, USPS Retired Postmasters, and Former Hartley’s Employees and Seamstresses. She was a faithful member and loved her church—Kingmont United Methodist Church. She and Charlie were always volunteering and helping to support their community and neighbors. Pat had many hobbies and was an avid reader and through her example, she cultivated a love of books in her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children—Charles “Chuck” S. Piercy III, Kimberly M. Piercy and her wife Tasha Horton; grandchildren—Charles “Chad” (Charity) Piercy, Amanda Piercy, Dustin (Katelyn) Piercy, Lloyd Kincaid, Lindsay Kincaid, Dominique Piercy; great-grandchildren—Hailey, Oliver, Raylan, Alyssa; and several extended family members including Elicca Sycafoose, Lewis Kincaid, and Kayla Piercy.
We will miss Patricia’s warm presence on this earth, but we are deeply grateful for the love and legacy she leaves behind. We look forward with hope to the day we are reunited once again.
The family wishes to thank Patty’s niece, Elicca Sycafoose, who was very special to her and helped us to care for her at home during the last 5 months.
The family also wishes to thank WVCaring Hospice nurses Scott, Kimmie, and Amber.
A Celebration of Life dinner will be held from 4-8pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Kingmont Community Building. Everyone is welcome to come help us celebrate and share memories of Pat’s life. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com
