The much-anticipated opening of the Splash Zone at Veterans Memorial Park is officially set for Saturday, May 24 at 12:00 PM, marking the unofficial start of summer in Clarksburg.
“Like anything, there are always challenges when it comes to the pool side of parks and recreation,” said Doug Comer, Superintendent of Clarksburg City Parks. “Ordering equipment, securing supplies, and retaining seasonal staff are always at the forefront, but thanks to a dedicated team from our Recreation Coordinator to our Maintenance crew we are on track for a great opening.”
While the Splash Zone continues to be a summer destination for families across the region, several upgrades and renovations have been completed to enhance the guest experience and prioritize safety. These include slide repairs and maintenance, expanded concession stand menu items, installation of a new chemical control system for the main pool and replacing some shade structures that have run its course.
“Operating a pool is no easy task,” Comer added. “It takes a team effort to keep everything running smoothly and ensure a safe, fun environment for everyone. Last year, we focused on the mini-golf course. This year, our attention and budget dollars has focused on critical repairs and system upgrades that directly impact safety.”
Admission Prices (unchanged from 2024):
The pool will also open early to accommodate river walk participants, and beginner swim lesson schedules will be announced soon on the parks website at www.cityparksofclarksburg.com.
