People across the country and in Arkansas are gearing up to celebrate Juneteenth, the monumental day that marked the freedom of enslaved people in the U.S.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On June 19, Americans across the country will celebrate Juneteenth, the holiday that marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the U.S. learned they were finally free.
Juneteenth was made a federal holiday in 2021, and this year, there are plenty of celebrations to take part in across Central Arkansas.
