Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh CMs to inaugurate of VIP block, temple at Tirumala in September

A VIP block, a kalyani, and a temple on the Karnataka Choultry premises on Turumala will be inaugurated in September, according to Muzrai Department officials.

In a significant move, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu are set to jointly inaugurate a newly developed VIP block, a kalyani, and a temple on the Karnataka Choultry premises on Tirumala in September.

The event marks a major step towards improving facilities for devotees from Karnataka visiting the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, according to Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

As part of the redevelopment plan on Tirumala, Mr. Reddy, inaugurated a key component of the project — the newly constructed Sri Krishnaraja Wadiyar Block Kalyana Mantapa, a wedding and function hall with a seating capacity of 500, located at the Mysore Complex at Tirumala on Monday. “The mantapa also houses 13 rooms and is now open for devotees to host events such as weddings, naming ceremonies, and other religious or family functions,” Mr. Reddy told The Hindu.

Mr. Reddy said, “The VIP block, which includes 36 well-furnished rooms, a ceremonial pond, and a temple, would be inaugurated in September in the presence of our Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, along with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This has been a long-pending dream of devotees from Karnataka, and we are happy to fulfil it.”

The Karnataka government has taken the initiative to renovate and expand the Karnataka choultries on Tirumala, which were reportedly neglected for several years. The additions include the Sri Krishnadevaraya Block, which will have 36 AC suites, and the Wadiyar block, both of which are nearing completion.

Online and offline booking options have been made available through the Karnataka Religious Endowment Department’s portal www.karnatakatemplesaccommodation.com. “Currently, 60% of rooms are open for online booking, while 40% are reserved for offline bookings,” Mr. Reddy added.
