BATON ROUGE, La. — After winning their first NCAA tournament game in program history on Saturday, Little Rock shocked the baseball nation Sunday night with a 10-4 win over No. 6 LSU in the Baton Rouge NCAA Regional.
The regional is a double elimination tournament and because this was LSU’s first loss, Little Rock will still have to beat them one more time on Monday to advance to what would be their first ever Super Regional.
After trailing 3-0 in the first inning, the Trojans came alive in the second inning with an Angel Cano two-run home run to cut the deficit to one. In the third inning, Cano came up clutch again. With the bases loaded, the Colombia native hit a bases clearing double that gave Little Rock a 6-3 lead they’d never surrender.
The Trojans then added four more runs in the eight inning and went one to win 10-4.
