JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — The Jacksonville Police Department announced that they have now made an arrest in a murder case that has sat cold for nearly 17 years.
Jacksonville police held a press conference on Monday afternoon, where they announced the news that Lavelle Demario Calvin had been arrested in connection to the murder.
Reports say that late at night on August 15, 2008, a young woman identified as 18-year-old Danick Adams was shot and killed as she left the gym with a friend.
However, the gunman got away in Danick’s car and left the friend behind, who then called police to report the deadly incident.
For nearly two decades, the gunman’s identity had remained a mystery until this week.
Officials with Jacksonville police said that Calvin of Memphis is now in custody and faces a charge of capital murder.
They also explained that the case has been sealed by the court, so no more information will be released.
