PHOENIX — Crews are working to find a man who went missing underwater while fishing at a canal in Phoenix.
Crews were called to a canal in the area of 51st Avenue and Cactus Road just before 1 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a possible drowning.

According to the Glendale Fire Department, a man was fishing when he fell into the water. He went under the surface and has not resurfaced.
Family members tried to help the man, but were unable to reach him.
Multiple agencies have responded to this incident in an effort to locate the man.
The Phoenix Police Department Dive Team, Glendale and Phoenix Fire Departments and Glendale Public Safety Drones are actively surveying the canal from above. Salt River Project is working to lower water levels to support ongoing search operations.
