UAE NOC President Al Maktoum confirmed for further four-year term

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been confirmed as President of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee (UAE NOC) for a further four-year term.

The UAE NOC’s Election Commission announced Al Maktoum, the deputy ruler of Dubai, will serve as President of the organisation for the period 2021-2024.

During a UAE NOC Election Commission media conference, the Commission announced the candidates nominated by the chairman of the Board of Directors.      

It also announced that 16 federations submitted applications for nominations to the Board of Directors, with 14 male candidates applying for one post and four female candidates applying for one post.

During the media conference, consultant Omar Muhammad Miran praised the Commission for its efforts in implementing the main principles of its work, including independence, transparency in electoral procedures, impartiality and innovation.

Miran said: "With the approach of the electoral process, the responsibility of all members of the committee doubles to complete it in the best possible way, in a manner that befits the reputation and status of Emirati sports."

Elections for Board of Directors positions are set to be opened at the next ordinary meeting of the General Assembly on August 22.

Al Maktoum is deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and is also the deputy ruler of Dubai and the country’s Minister of Finance.
