A section of U.S. Route 50 in Harrison County was completely closed early Monday evening as the result of a vehicle accident.
According to multiple reports and the Harrison County 911 log, a call came in a 6:17 p.m. for a vehicle accident with entrapment. The incident was in the westbound lane of traffic and required both lanes to be closed temporarily.
The accident involved two vehicles with one of the vehicles rear-ending the other in the area of mile marker 75, which is in the area of Reynoldsville. As expected, traffic was backed up as a result.
First responders had to remove an individual trapped inside one of the vehicles in the accident. The Harrison County EMS transported a patient for medical treatment. There was no word on the severity of the injuries leading to transport.
Along with the Harrison County EMS, several volunteer fire departments were on the scene from Reynoldsville, Stonewood, Grafton and Nutter Fort. Also responding was the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and the West Virginia Division of Highways.
