New Omoda 7 Plug-in Hybrid SUV Unveiled At Beijing Motor Show 2024

The 2024 Beijing Auto Show witnessed a surge of interest around Omoda with the unveiling of their latest offering – the Omoda 7 PHEV SUV. Positioned as the brand’s second global model, the Omoda 7 serves as a larger and more powerful sibling to the already popular Omoda 5.

The Omoda 7 is a looker. The front features a prominent shark nose with a borderless grille reminiscent of the Lexus RX. Large 20-inch wheels with a dual-tone finish complement the muscular stance.

The rear boasts a coupe-like roofline similar to the Range Rover Velar, while the window line with its distinct kink is similar to the Omoda 5. The taillights feature a series of connecting arrows forming a lightning bolt.

Omoda has not revealed the complete dimensions of the SUV. However, it is considerably larger than the Omoda 5 and much closer in size to rivals like the Honda CR-V.

The Omoda 7’s cabin features a gaming-inspired theme with a steering wheel reminiscent of a PlayStation 5 controller. The front seats are modelled after gaming chairs, offering a sporty feel. Fancy stitching, nubuck leather, and quilting elevate the interior’s look and feel.

The Omoda 7 is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The complete specs of the hybrid powertrain are yet to be revealed. But, it is expected to be similar to the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV SUV. Here are the expected specs of the Omoda 7 PHEV:

The Omoda 7 prioritizes safety with a comprehensive suite of ADAS features encompassing 18 different functions. These include the usual suspects like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, along with a novel voice-activated lane change assist function.

Omoda is yet to announce its plans for the 7 launching in the UAE. However, due to the growing demand for Chinese cars and PHEV buyers in the country, we expect the Omoda 7 to make its way into the UAE market once launched.
